AI, on the immediate roadmap of Spanish managers

Artificial Intelligence has gone from being a future promise to the ultimate catalyst for digital business metamorphosis. Enterprises are increasingly confident in its transformative power, especially when AI is strategically integrated with business objectives. According to the Work Trend Index Annual Report prepared by Microsoft ,  a strategic partner of Izertis, 89% of Spanish managers plan to use AI agents in the next 12 to 18 months. The study covers those employment trends that are foreseen for the year 2025, which focuses its analysis on the emergence of a new organisational model: 'The year of the birth of the frontier enterprise'.

Microsoft analysed surveys of 31,000 workers in 31 countries and, for the first time, the views of native AI startups, economists, scientists and academics. This study therefore offers an up-to-date and in-depth look at how AI and intelligent agents are redefining work in organisations.

88% of Spanish executives see 2025 as a key year for redesigning the pillars of their strategy and operations. This figure is 11 points above the European average (77%), which positions Spain as one of the most active countries in the structural rethinking of its work model through AI.

The data show a continuous adaptation by organisations and transformation of their structures. They also reflect a mindset focused on creating companies with new internal structures, renewed profiles and a more fluid interaction between employees and technology.

Many companies are embracing this new model and accelerating their adaptation process. So much so that 24% of executives say their companies have already implemented AI at the organisational level, while only 12% are still in the pilot phase. This anticipation can represent a competitive advantage in the marketplace vis-à-vis direct competitors.

AI agents: "digital colleagues"

Microsoft talks in its report of 'digital colleagues', where AI takes on specific tasks under human direction, acting as an assistant, removing the monotony of work and helping people do the same job better and faster. This model is increasingly present in Spanish companies, with 45% of the managers surveyed claiming to have fully automated business processes or workflows, ahead of countries such as France (35%) or the Netherlands (36%) or Finland (39%).

In addition, 82% of managers say they will use the digital workforce to expand the capacity of the workforce in the next year or year and a half. Another point in favour of AI agents is made by the workers themselves, with 80% of the global workforce claiming that they lack sufficient time or energy to do their jobs.

The AI agents complement the work of workers, helping to free human teams from repetitive work, allowing them to focus on more relevant issues. Intelligent agents are being integrated mainly in areas such as customer care, marketing and product development. However, beyond the specific functions, the common goal is to achieve greater efficiency, agility and scalability.

New professions may also emerge as a result of AI agents, as every employee can become a 'workforce managers'. Proof of this is that 28% of managers are already considering hiring AI workforce managers to lead hybrid teams of people and agents, and 32% plan to hire AI agent specialists to design, develop and optimise them in that 12-18 month period.

83% of global leaders believe that AI will enable employees to take on more complex and strategic jobs earlier in their careers. Organisations that invest in AI skills today will be at the forefront tomorrow. AI offers not only tools for work, but also new ways of learning.
